Rumors have surfaced that Francisco Liriano may be headed to the Yankees in the near future for some combination of Joba Chamberlain, Ivan Nova, and prospects. How does this possible deal affect the Yankees and the Twins? Does it make the Yankees legitimate world series contenders?

In my opinion, if the Yankees acquired Liriano for Joba, Nova, and prospects, they would immediately be among the top contenders to represent the AL in the world series.
i agree
With Liriano being a great pitcher and the Yanks needing a good rotation he will be a great asset to them and will definetely make them contenders
i agree too...it will also complete their starting rotation
Liriano=damaged goods. You don't trade promising prospects for a Tommy John surgery veteran. Also, the Yanks and Twins as trading partners makes no sense. Yanks have a surplus of catching prospects, and the Twins do not need catchers. They have Mauer and some top prospect in the minors. Plus I think Nova will be very good this year, and I think Bartolo Colon can have an ok year, im talking 11-8 with a 4.40 ERA. No need for Liriano. We do not need injury-prone pitchers. Wasn't Pavano enough?
yanks also have a surplus of pitching prospects as well. plus, you're crazy if you think colon will have that season, and if you think there's no need for liriano, well, you can't be a yankee fan
